At Bewilderness, we really enjoy creating
tough jigsaw puzzles. Sometimes, the more challenging a puzzle is to solve, the more satisfying it is when you put that last piece in place! But we also know that puzzles are supposed to be fun, too. Every puzzler has their own threshold where fun becomes frustration, and sometimes you just want to chill out with a puzzle that's not going to take over your coffee table for weeks.
If you're used to classic-style jigsaw puzzles with 500, 1000, or even 2000+ pieces, you'll find that most Bewilderness puzzles tend to have a higher difficulty level per piece. Our general rule of thumb to get an idea of how tough one of our puzzles will be is to multiply the number of pieces in a Bewilderness puzzle by 2 or 3, and that will tell you about how hard it will be compared to a traditional cardboard puzzle. For example, one of our
326-piece geometric puzzles will be around as challenging as your average 700- to 1000-piece puzzle.
Besides piece count, also consider the art printed on the puzzle when gauging difficulty. For example, our
326-piece Joyful puzzle is quite a bit easier than our
326-piece Eye of the Tiger, even though they're both
geometric puzzles of the same size. Any time you have very distinct colors or patterns that you can isolate and solve section by section, you're going to have an easier time of it than if you have a more complex pattern that covers the entire area of the puzzle.
